Polyhexidine is a revolutionary, patented technology that imparts the powerful biocidal effectiveness of chlorhexidine into polyolefin resins.

Chlorhexidine has a long history of use in healthcare settings.
Polyethylene and Polypropylene, the most common plastics
in use today.

The 2 compounds are combined into a homogenous blend to create PolyHexidine.

The loss of the crystalline structure of the chlorhexidine within the polymer material is due to its chemical and physical compatibility with

polyolefin resins.

The result is a material with biocidal properties that is water insoluble.


This is NOT a chemical coating on a polymer. It does not leach or wash out.

This compatibility allows for dispersion of the chlorhexidine molecule with the polymer molecules, thereby preventing the chlorhexidine molecules from reforming their natural lattice.

  • Escherichia Coli (E-Coli)

  • Staphylococcus (Staph & MRSA)

  • Streptococcus Pyogenes (Strep)

  • Enterobacter Aerogenes

  • Pseudomonas Aeruginosa


PolyHexidine creates a mechanical kill through the destruction of the cell wall.

E-Coli cell destruction at multiple contact sites.

Polyhexidine uses standard manufacturing processes for melt blown, spunbond, fiber extrusion, injection molding, cast and blown film, etc.  No modifications to existing production equipment are required.
